POSITION: Water Production Supervisor 

JOB SUMMARY: The City of Monterey Park is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Water Production Supervisor. The position is responsible to perform a variety of supervisory, professional and administrative duties to support the Water Production Division and management; including planning, organizing, participating and supervising the Water Production staff in the operation, maintenance and compliance of the City’s domestic water systems. Prepares administrative and regulatory reports, mentors field operators, conducts water quality and water conservation presentations; represents Water Production Division and Public Works Department as needed.  The ideal candidate leads by example in support of division staff, has a moral compass of honesty, integrity, and fairness.

SCHEDULE: Exempt employee with expectation of a 40 hour work week

SALARY: $43-45/hr+


  • Supervise the operation, construction, repair and maintenance of wells, reservoirs, pumping plants, LPGAC treatment facilities, air stripping treatment plants, ION exchange treatment plants, and SCADA systems

  • Perform administration duties related to the preparation of the annual operating budget for the Water Production Section of the District

  • Prepare and complete field and administrative reports, operational and maintenance reports and equipment specification reports

  • Perform water quality testing and reporting in compliance with County, State and Federal regulations

  • Use District computer systems to input data and reports efficiently

  • Organize and Supervise the Water Production Section of the District

  • Coordinate District Projects of the Water Production System with appropriate city staff and other sections of the Water District

  • Assist in development and implementation of upgrades, improvements and expanding the City’s Water System

  • Give Water Quality and Water Conservation Presentations

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other City Departments, Agencies and the General Public

  • Develop and maintain good working and professional relationships with staff; complete performance evaluations, directs training and safety activities

  • Respond to emergency situations

  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor


  • Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbally and written)

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Minimum four years of experience in the operation and maintenance of water production systems
