POSITION: Wastewater Treatment O&M Tech 



  • Must obtain Grade 2 Wastewater Certification as required 


Under direct supervision performs a variety of basic operational tasks relevant to maintaining safe and reliable operations of advanced wastewater treatment facilities.  Ensures operation in compliance with state and federal regulations through routine monitoring and adjustment of plant manual and computerized control systems and assists higher level personnel with more complex operational tasks.


SCHEDULE: TBD Based off company needs. Must be able to work standby, holidays, weekends and overtime as required.


SALARY: $30-35/hr



  • Records meter, sensor and gauge readings and performs routine in-plant lab sampling and analysis.

  • Operates valves and gates manually as directed.

  • Starts, stops and operates pumps, engines and other equipment, under the direction of an O&M Tech III, O&M Tech IV or Lead Operator.

  • Interface with plant computer control system as necessary to perform operations and maintenance duties as directed.

  • Makes routine rounds of assigned process areas and records operating data such as run times, chemical usage, flows and other process information as directed. 

  • Records operating data in shift logs. 

  • Monitors and adjusts chemical feed rates as directed.

  • Conducts change-outs, monitors and/or replenishes process chemical supplies as directed.

  • Collects samples for process control lab tests as directed.

  • Performs routine laboratory analysis for MLSS, alkalinity, ammonia nitrate nitrite, pH, SVI, and Turbidity and as directed by an O&M Tech IV, III or Lead Operator.

  • Assist in process control or preventive/corrective maintenance functions as directed.

  • Performs routine cleaning and general housekeeping duties in work areas as directed, including, but not limited to, cleaning of weirs and other process equipment and areas.

  • Performs general housekeeping duties of job sites, work areas and other area as directed including, but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mopping, cleaning and painting as necessary to maintain areas to Company standards.

  • May be required to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Observes all on-the-job safety regulations.

  • Performs all other related tasks as directed.

  • While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both inside and outside with exposure to all kinds of weather conditions. The incumbent is frequently exposed to noise, dust, fumes, gases, greases, oils, electrical energy, solvents and vibrations.  The incumbent may work on slippery/uneven surfaces, around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles, ladder and may be exposed to water, treatment chemicals and other liquid materials.   




  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations.

  • Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal work orders or assignments.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 49 lbs.

  • Ability to perform the following: straight pulling, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, repeated bending and sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to distinguish basic colors and various shades.

  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
