POSITION: Night Shift Wastewater Plant Operator III 

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Valid Grade III Wastewater Operator Certificate issued by SWRCB

SCHEDULE: 12 Hour Shift (4 Days Week 1 / 3 Days Week 2)  Night Shift 8 AM to 8 PM

SALARY: $38 – $45 Per Hour   (Will receive 4 hours OT per night) + Expenses 


  • Monitor operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • Maintain routines, complete daily records and shift logs
  • Operate Treatment Facility Equipment such as, but not limited to, settling tanks, pumps, activated sludge process, digesters, centrifuge, chlorinators and valves to control flow, processing of wastewater sludge and effluent
  • Monitor gauges, dials, meters, control panels and other recording instruments used within the facility
  • Collect samples and perform necessary laboratory testing and analysis
  • Interpret results to determine processing requirements; record and report data to appropriate staff
  • Inspect Plant Equipment and Facilities to locate and report needed repairs
  • Service and maintain a variety of Plant Equipment; Oil, grease and clean equipment as necessary
  • Perform general Plant maintenance work such as, but not limited to, sweeping, cleaning, sanding and painting; perform general ground maintenance work
  • Assist in the training of other Plant Operator
  • May have to assume responsibility for operational decisions in the absence of supervisory personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor


  • Employee frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds
