Job Description

LOCATION: Central Valley

POSITION: Utility Construction Coordinator

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Valid Grade 3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate (D3) or Grade 3 Water Treatment Operator Certificate (T3) issued by the SWRCB
JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision by the Operations Manager, the Utility Construction Coordinator will coordinate, supervise, and review the activities related to capital improvement projects and programs. This position will also provide technical assistance in the maintenance and repair of the water systems and facilities


SCHEDULE: TBD Based off company needs. Must be able to work standby, holidays, weekends and overtime as required.

SALARY: Ranges from $44.84 to $58.84 based off of experience 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; coordinate activities with other departments; work with City Council on various projects
  • Plan, assign, schedule, and supervise employees in the operations of water/wastewater systems and facilities; direct the coordination and reviews the work of assigned staff; assist in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of professional consultants and subordinate employees; mentor engineers and other craftspeople as needed
  • Develop project scope and schedules, identify resource needs, prepare bid packages, recommend contract awards, follow project through construction and final acceptance
  • Coordinate, review and correct design specifications and project plans; inspect projects in progress and upon completion
  • Communicate and coordinate project implementation issues with appropriate staff
  • Coordinate the scheduling of the final walkthrough of staff and contractor; coordinate review meetings with staff and engineering division
  • Coordinate with Underground Service Alert (USA) on special projects
  • Receive and review As-Built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals
  • Coordinate training of new equipment or new system development
  • Serve as project manager for capital improvement projects
  • Suggest methods of improving plant efficiency; assist in budget preparation and administration; review and approve orders for supplies and materials; prepare cost estimates, assist in development of project equipment specifications
  • Serve as a member of the management team for emergency response
  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor


  • Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade 
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbally and written)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum of four years of experience in the water construction, maintenance, or related field


  • Employee frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds
