POSITION: Senior Water Treatment Operator
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Valid Grade T4 Water Treatment Operator Certificate and Grade D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate issued by the SWRCB
SCHEDULE: TBD Based off company needs. Must be able to work standby, holidays, weekends and overtime as required.
SALARY: $40.00 Per Hour + Benefits
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate and monitor Water Treatment Plant Facilities and Distribution System
- Observe variations in plant functionality and operating conditions; regulate flow and pressure through SCADA systems to ensure proper function of the water systems
- Maintain reservoir storage capacity by operating the Water Production Facilities
- Test and adjust chlorine equipment to maintain and ensure proper residual, tabulate flow readings and assess overall well site(s); change out one-ton chlorine cylinders and deliver sodium hypochlorite to remote sites
- Perform and assist in major/minor plant equipment maintenance
- Recommend operational changes to enhance efficiency and function of Water Systems
- Monitor Treatment Equipment performance to ensure compliance to State and Federal Laws, rules, permit requirements and regulations
- Maintain a clean, orderly and safe conditions both inside and outside of the Treatment Plant and related facilities
- Measure and record water table information and well sites
- Monitor charts, graphs, meters, instrument gauges and electronic systems
- Manage data collection and database records
- Collect water quality samples; ensure water quality is up to SWRCB, regulatory permits, USEPA Regulations, State and Federal Laws by performing laboratory testing
- Interpret changing process needs from laboratory results, chemical dose calculations and observations; makes adjustments as necessary
- Receive and transfer chemicals and hazardous materials
- Inform necessary staff of present and potential issues or hazards
- Assess and note any issues with the overall appearance and operation of facilities and equipment
- Assist with training and onboarding new employees; provide leadership to other staff
- Assist with workflow planning and scheduling
- Assign and monitor tasks; participate and provide input to employee performance records and evaluations
- Conduct Water Treatment Facility Tours
- Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade
- Ability to communicate clearly in English (verbally and written)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Minimum five years of experience in the Water Utility Field – including one year of experience as shift or chief operator
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds
